Construction has begun and progress is being made on The Wisteria Tea Room and Cafe located in downtown Ft Myers. Please visit this website often for updates on the progress and Grand Opening in the summer of 2008.

The remodeling of the Tea Room will be done by Philip Schwartz the owner/contractor and his sons Cameron, who is a newly licensed contractor, and Kyle who will be an integral part of the business. It will be a family affair with Bobbie Schwartz doing the decorating and gift shop purchasing, with the help of several friends. She will also be working on the delicious menu which will feature soup, salad and sandwiches as well as tea service.
Our intent is to open mid 2007 with the cooperation of the City of Fort Myers. *********************************************************************************

Learning to make "Proper Tea"
We attended the Elmwood Inn Tea Conference 101 in April 2006 in Herrodsburg Kentucky. The owners of the most successful tea room in the US are Bruce and Shelley Richardson. They now give seminars and write books about the tea experience. It was wonderful to learn about tea and the art of tea service. We did many samplings of various teas such as white tea, green tea, black teas, Oolong tea, tesane and herbals. We even had the pleasure of participating in a Gung Fu ceremony. There is much to learn. We also got to experience tea with Bruce and Shelley at the Aspen Hall Tea Room. It is an antebellum home that is a Bed and Breakfast as well as a Tea Room.
We learned many aspects of the tea business and hope to share them with our future customers as soon as we are open!

We had our first Wisteria Tea Experience last night. It went really well. It has been a long time in the making. Phil gave a presentation on different teas and how they are harvested and processed. We also discussed the health benefits of drinking tea. I then showed how to make the perfect cup and pot of tea as well as showing artisimal teas. We then enjoyed tasting 11 teas and tisanes and showed some of the giftware we have.
For those who are waiting patiently for the Grand Opening, the tea room is further delayed with a questionable opening date, but we are doing tea tasting and loose tea sales, plus giftware, at home. You may view some pictures from our first Wisteria Tea Experience on the Photo Albums page.
